Welcome to the Cornish Traction Preservation Club

We are a dedicated group of volunteers and enthusiasts passionate about preserving steam traction engines and vintage machinery. Established in 1960, our non-profit organisation celebrates Cornwall’s rich industrial heritage, bringing together like-minded individuals to restore, display, and share our love for historic engines.

Each year, we proudly organise the Tredinnick Rally, a much-anticipated event showcasing an impressive collection of vintage motors and steam-powered machines. The rally not only keeps history alive but also raises vital funds for charity, supporting local causes while celebrating the engineering marvels of the past.

Preserving Cornwall’s Steam Heritage

Cornwall’s industrial heritage is deeply rooted in mining and engineering, particularly during the 18th and 19th centuries when the region was a global leader in tin and copper extraction. Steam engines were vital to Cornwall’s mining industry, primarily for pumping water out of deep mine shafts, hoisting materials, and powering ore-crushing machinery.

Our efforts at the Cornish Traction Preservation Club are helping to keep Cornwall’s steam-powered legacy alive for future generations.
